During the FEED Stage, different project options are evaluated and compared based on uncertainties, risk and other factors associated with each option. Information required by the client’s representative to review and approve the project for the next stage, is taken from the Define Stage Activities.
The plan for the next stage incorporates:
- Engineering documents such as Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Drawing (P&ID), plot plans, heat and material balances, single line electrical diagrams and major equipment specifications
- Refined Project scope and design definition
- Resource loaded CPM project plan
- Class 2 estimate
- Holistic Risk Assessment: risk identification/elimination to freeze scope
- Deliverables for this stage include a preliminary Project Execution Plan (PEP), an approved contracting strategy, a change management plan and appropriate resources and funding for the detailed design stage.
At the end of this stage a project option is selected, or it is determined that the project is no longer feasible.
