EC&I design department based in Glasgow.
We are looking for a talented individual with a keen eye for detail to support in all aspects of EC&I design and commissioning. As a key member of our Engineering
team, the successful candidate will be involved in a variety of interesting Design Projects, both UK and worldwide, with the opportunity for excellent career progression. This position is open to
candidates from different sectors/industries as full training and support will be provided.
Working with Fabri you will be part of an experienced team, working with our international blue-chip Clients, within the Downstream Oil sector.
Details of the role:
The position offers a unique opportunity to work on a wide variety of EC&I/process control systems as well as HV/LV Power distribution. Client requirements differ
and project scopes are varied meaning no two days are ever the same, there is always something new!
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Support EC&I aspects of projects of all sizes, from conceptual design to commissioning;
- Assist EC&I teams working on multi-discipline design projects;
- With the support of Learning and Development, actively pursue further professional development; &
- Be expected to travel, both UK and worldwide for site visits and Client meetings.
The following breakdown provides you with an idea of the typical systems/areas of work which the role will cover. Experience in the areas detailed is ideal although
not essential. Training both internal and external where required will be provided:
- HV/LV Power distribution;
- LV design including fault levels, protection grading, short circuits, surge protection, diversity, discrimination and co-ordination;
- Load schedules, SLDs, Cable schedules and electrical schematics;
- Specification of Hazardous Area Electrical Equipment for Area classification;
- ATEX certification and IP ratings;
- Containment systems, cable selection and sizing for design and protection requirements;
- Surveying projects for both new installation and modification to existing (control panel/switchgear etc);
- MCC specification / vendor review;
- Motor starters such as DOL, star/delta, forward/reverse, VSD and soft starts;
- FAT/SAT document preparation and attendance;
- VSD specification including, harmonics, chokes and EMC filter selection;
- Trace heating, lighting, UPS systems, ESD systems and Fire alarm systems;
- Specification of instrumentation for a process environment;
- DCS/SCADA/PLC – predominantly the specification of and interfacing too; &
- Development of both detailed design and loop drawings.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar relevant qualifications (Apprenticeship / HNC / HNC / background in EC&I would be considered)
- Ability to communicate with clarity both verbally and in writing.
- Capable in the creation of technical reports.
- Computer literate with full knowledge of Microsoft Office and technical software (ideally including Amtech and AutoCAD)
- Previous experience in the detailed design and delivery of Downstream Oil and Gas Projects would be an advantage.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
